Microsoft Teams Rooms Pro and Microsoft Teams Rooms Basic Licensing Changes

Microsoft Teams Rooms is a one of many solutions to the new Hybrid meeting spaces we now find ourselves working in.
Teams Rooms can turn any room into an inclusive meeting space where users can be truly involved and easily be part of meetings. Teams Rooms is an mesh of Microsoft Teams software and certified partner hardware devices that provide flexibility for your meeting needs.
From the 1st of September, Teams Rooms Licensing has changed to Basic and Pro.
These changes will allow customers currently using Teams Room Premium Licenses cost savings when they chance to Teams Rooms Pro.
Features of Teams Room Basic License
- Includes core meeting functionalities allowing easier collaboration with, including scheduling, joining meetings, content sharing, and collaborative white boarding, along with basic security and management capabilities.
- Teams Rooms Basic license can only be used for one device per room, additional resources in the same room will require a Teams Room Pro License.
- 25 Teams Rooms Basic Licenses can be assigned to a tenant, additional Licenses above this need to be purchased as Teams Pro Licenses.
Features of Teams Room Pro License
- Includes enhanced meeting experiences such as intelligent audio and video, front row and large galleries, and dual screen support.
- Includes advanced management, including remote device management access policies and analytics.
- Scalable fit from Enterprise through to smaller organizations with large room counts.
Changing from Teams Rooms Standard and Teams Rooms Premium
- You can continue to use any existing licenses of Teams Rooms Standard or Teams Rooms Premium until their expiration date.
- Legacy licenses won't automatically transition to the new licenses, at renewal you must manually request the new Basic or Pro Licenses.
