Last month (March 2024) Microsoft released the news that there will be a new Workspace released within Microsoft Partner Centre, dedicated to Security. We have been advised that this will be released on 1 April 2024 (however it could be 1 May depending on who you listen to).

The intention is to supply Partners with a centralised area to manage your own security posture and ensure that your Partner Centre accounts are secure, while protecting end customers from being breached via your Partner Centre account, which contains access to all your end customers tenants and all they hold.

Initially, this workspace will be dedicated to giving General Admins within the partners eco-system an overview of your team and who has access to your Partner Centre account, and what that access is. Logins will be highlighted if any have MFA turned off, what the secure score of their devices are, weak passwords and vulnerabilities in general. It will also manage alerts, risks, and unsuccessful events, all relating to your partner centre account.

There will be security requirements that will need to be actioned by Partners to enable appropriate reporting and that Microsoft recommended security defaults are turned on. More information can be found here.

These services are intended to extend to your end customers and will report on end customers that are listed as Customers within the customer workspace in your Partner Centre account, in the future. This will not be available in the first instance, but it will come.

You will be able to click on the links (as shown in blue) and remediate as appropriate. Making sure that your customers are secure, and remediation is easier. Microsoft’s intention is to expand the services for you end customers and make servicing security easier in the future.

Look out for this appearing shortly and do let me know if you have any queries at all.

Be well…Carol
